Youth in Türkiye emerge as one of the most pessimistic yet politically engaged generations in Southeast Europe, grappling with unemployment, inequality, and fears about the country’s future while showing a strong desire to emigrate. Despite low life satisfaction and deep anxieties—especially among young women—Türkiye’s youth stand out for their relatively high interest in politics and willingness to take political roles, revealing a tension between “exit” and engagement. At the same time, negative attitudes toward refugees and strong nationalist sentiments coexist with support for EU membership and democratic rights, exposing sharp contradictions in values and expectations.
