In Algeria, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's youth study from 2023 portrays young people as occupying an “outsider” position. While socially integrated through institutions such as education and family, they face significant material marginalisation due to limited access to resources needed for independent adult life. Their room to maneuver in social and political spheres thus remains restricted, and despite their potential, many are effectively excluded from the labour market or unable to secure decent working conditions. As a result, youth in Algeria emerge as a vulnerable group that continues to seek spaces for expression and agency beyond the constraints of their everyday challenges.
