Young people in the Middle East and North Africa are coming of age in a time of profound uncertainty. Economic hardship, political constraints, and ongoing crises shape their daily lives and future prospects, often widening the gap between expectations and reality.
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation youth studies (in English: 2016/17, 2021/22; in Arabic: 2016/17, 2021/2022; in German: 2016/17, 2021/2022) provide insight into these dynamics, based on surveys with thousands of young people across the region. While earlier findings pointed to resilience and cautious optimism, the latest results highlight increasing pressure from overlapping crises.
