In Jordan, the Friedrich‑Ebert‑Stiftung’s youth study from 2023 finds that religiosity and conservatism shape young people’s political preferences. A clear majority favor a governmental system based on Sharia law or a hybrid democratic‑Islamic model, rating it higher than a purely secular‑democratic arrangement. Trust is placed more in traditional pillars such as the family and the military than in representative bodies like parliament or civil‑society organisations.

The same study highlights climate change as a top concern for Jordanian youth. Although many perceive the climate emergency as a daunting or even hopeless challenge, respondents nevertheless express a strong willingness to advocate for climate‑action solutions. This juxtaposition of strong religious‑political orientations with an eager, albeit cautious, climate agenda underscores the complex and evolving landscape of Jordan’s younger generation.
