Sweden was one of five countries included in the EqualiZe study on gender, politics, and democracy among Generation Z. Combining European Social Survey data with focus groups, the study examines whether young women and men are becoming politically divided. The findings suggest that while gender differences do exist, young people largely share the same concerns — including economic insecurity, social change, and uncertainty about the future — but often interpret them differently. Young women tend to emphasise vulnerability, safety, and equality, while young men more often focus on fairness, opportunity, and social status. Read more.
